MEET AUSTIN DAVIS

I'd like to officially welcome Austin Davis to the author team at Moran Press. I've posted samples of his poetry to the website and am proud to announce his first collection will be published this spring. Soon I'll have a cover reveal and more poems to share. First - here's a few words from the poet himself. Introducing - Austin Davis.

I’ve spent a good portion of my young life involved with poetry. Whether it’s been scribbling on my arm as I finish up my shift at work or filling up notebooks in my own little world, poetry is my passion and I think it is central to who I am. 

In the coming months, Moran Press is going to be releasing my book. This collection was inspired by my time growing up and realizing that the world isn’t as simple as it once seemed. I believe that it has become so increasingly easy to get caught up in the fast-moving world we live in, that sometimes we miss out on so much of what it means to be alive. The poems in this collection show how vital slowing down and enjoying what really matters in life is. Many of the poems in this collection were inspired by me falling in love. 

I think that poetry is incredibly important today, even if it’s not generally popular in our culture. My goal is to try and help people with my writing, and that's what I hope I can do with the publication of this book. For me, poetry provides an escape. You may never really be the same again after reading a poem that really speaks to you, and I think that’s what makes poetry so necessary.
