SUBMITTING TO MORAN PRESS

Many authors ask the type of books Moran Press looks to publish. A more fundamental question should be what type of authors Moran Press seeks to publish.

The Moran Press way centers around authors that were intending to self-publish but decided not to or can’t do it alone. Authors that will fit at Moran Press are hustlers, self-motivated entrepreneurs, who take an active role in selling and marketing their books. Moran Press seeks partners in publishing, not just clients.

What does Moran Press bring to authors?

Moran Press helps authors translate their vision from manuscript into published product. The process of publication involves a team of book professionals who coordinate on every aspect of the editing and design process. When authors put their manuscripts through the Moran Press, the result is something that we call an 'Arthouse Paperback.'

Simply put, Moran Press will produce a book from your manuscript that rivals the quality of traditional publication. When you self-publish at Moran Press, you retain far more control of your book than you would in traditional publishing. The finished, quality product will set you apart in the indie publishing world. When you attend events with other indie authors, you can be confident that your book will stand out in the crowd and gain attention from readers.

If you're an author considering self-publishing and want a polished product that you can sell with pride, Moran Press is the right publishing house for you. See the submissions page for more details.

Moran Press Presents BOOK OF BIRDS - The Debut Novel by @LMBryski

MORAN PRESS PRESENTS
BOOK OF BIRDS
THE DEBUT NOVEL BY
L. M. BRYSKI

"I don't advise losing your parents when you're young."

Thus begins the debut novel by L. M. Bryski, Book of Birds, from Moran Press.

This powerful (and at times humorous) coming of age novel will take you on a journey back in time - set in post-war Canada in the 1940s, Book of Birds tells the story of Elly McGuinty and her younger sister Dot, newly orphaned as the book opens.

From the book description at Amazon.com

Still grieving the loss of her parents, Elly chafes at the responsibility of helping care for Dot and struggles to find a place for herself in her new life. When a travelling circus comes to town, Elly’s desire for new experiences leads her, Dot, and new friend Stammer - a shy boy mocked for his halting voice - down a path where lives are altered forever.

When I first read the Book of Birds manuscript, I was impressed with the strong voice of the main character, Elly. That powerful voice carries the reader through a set of adventures that propel the book. As a reader, I found myself turning the pages without thought to time.

Bryski's writing is effortless it seems, taking the reader through a intense narrative that could easily go off the track into maudlin in the hands of a lesser writer. In Book of Birds, Bryski balances scenes with emotional punch and humorous aside with equal aplomb.

I knew from the first day I read the manuscript of Book of Birds that I wanted to publish the novel. That day has arrived and I couldn't be prouder to share the latest release from Moran Press.
